Got into SEO, what to do?

So I got accepted at SEO, but I have second rounds at Goldman, Lehman so far.

Fairly confident I'll make them, but if I take SEO, there's always a chance they'll assign me a **** firm.

Can someone tell me about SEO? Prestige! Jobs! How do employers see it?! What else?! Bschool links?

Does it look bad to come thru SEO?

Crazybug,

Congratulations on the SEO internship! I was wondering what program or internship position did you apply for? I applied for the philanthropy internship (round II) but have not heard yet from them. Can you tell me how the interview process was? What types of questions did they ask? Thanks.

minorityman can you also share your experiance with me with SEO? I applied for the I banking one. How competative was it? If you dont mind what kind of stats did you come in with?

Would any of you be willing to speak with me on AIM on it? If so please PM me. Thanks

whats SEO? :O

SEO is probably one of the most prestigious internship programs ever. You get the best training and they will usually put you with a great firm: goldman sachs, merrill lynch, ubs, etc. All the employers know exactly what SEO is and many of its alumni go into IBanking for awhile...becoming MDs, VPs, etc. Congrats on getting into SEO!!!! Im still waiting for the response after my 2nd interview. Im a sophomore so I definitely won't be hearing back from them anytime soon. Oh and also, many get 3 or 4 job offers/internship offers when they graduate from the SEO program. congrats again =)

Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1963 as one of New York City's first mentoring programs for high school students of color. Over the past four decades, SEO has assisted some 4,000 students and their families. We have also expanded programs to benefit a wider age range of students, helping them develop throughout high school, college and their careers.

Anyone have input on what to expect for a second round interview in new york?

I have never heard of this program and I'm from NYC o_0. Only for 9th and 10th graders, eh? good luck <3

it's kind of weird how many of the posters on this thread only have 1 post count.

SEO is much more than a high school program. Their career prgram is by far the best oppurtunity for college juniors who go to non-target schools to get top-tier summer internships. Look it up www.seo-ny.org check out the career program brochure.

ok, im interested. but..what if you already have a mentor and had already had a summer internship over the summer with one of the corperate firms? I dont think it's SEO... Do I have to get another mentor? I don't really want to leave her behind >_>.

I just found out about SEO, and I'm a sophomore so it's not to late, I see that it's a very prestigous program, someone referenced that it's for students from non-target schools, if this is the case. When it comes time to apply how do I assure myself the best chance. What kind of GPA should I have? I'm trying to build my resume and I desperately need some prestigous accomplishments.

Do they generally only want business/econ majors, or do they consider other majors as well?

I'm not sure, I don't know much about the program, only what I've seen on the website.

There's ALSO InRoads.... which I think, is a cheaper version of SEO. A word of warning: InRoads is NOT very organized... they never got back to me after being accepted. I found my ibank internship myself. Anyway, www.inroads.org - worth a shot! It's a less demanding app process than SEO

Also, sometimes ibank ppl don't get along with SEO kids.. they think they're only there because of minority opportunity.. but they're wrong! some minorities, esp. Asians, score a lot higher and work harder.. who knows, it might be an even more rigorous talent pool

Exactly, I see it as a way to help minorities get a foot in the ibanking world.

Will a 3.4 be good enough for Inroads?

3.4 is enough, since all they want is say 3.0-3.2--at the college career fair, I've actually SEEN the InRoads rep accept minority app's who are borderline 3.0--remember, this is not as prestigious as SEO. But there is a little competition.

Since I'm a college sophomore my ACT and SAT and high school transcript don't matter right?

They won't matter: they won't even look at high school grades, despite what the website says. This I got from 2 InRoads reps. College sophomore year is the last time you can apply by the way.

Yea, I know I'm filled out their online application and uploaded my resume. I just have to send them my college transcripts?
