So the Honors College Applications were just sent out. As the kid fills it out, it would be great to know what they are expecting/evaluating on? Is it academic rigor, a social conscientious, well balanced kids, something else?
Also, any insights into how much extra work is involved in the honors college would be great.

Fact: “Opus Dei runs the world”

What are the questions? Most of the time, they ask applicants to not tailor their responses to what they think the university wants.

No, you can decline.
