"And the ones who don't and pull allnighters habitually, well, if they're lucky they'll end up in schools like JHU."

"And the ones who don't and pull allnighters habitually, well, if they're lucky they'll end up in schools like JHU."

Suuuuurrreee.

They are lucky. As are the people who don't pull all nighters. Lucky to be blessed with the skills and drive and environment that produced them.

hm, ur indirectly insulting jhu by saying that. and ur at the jhu forum

who is insulting JHU?

chlor, cuz he/she was saying that if u pull all-nighters, ull be "lucky enough to get in a school like jhu."
thus implying that only second rate students who cant manage time efficiently get in to jhu, and also implying that its not as good as the other schools he/she mentioned in his post.
or maybe i could just be reading this wrong. thats always possible. ;)

that's what i thought.

I have actually never pulled an all nighter for homework, never even past twelve. I'm taking 8 APs this year, and hold a 20hr/wk job. It's probably because I go to a really easy school. Yet, I still do really well on AP exams (I have 8 fives and 1 three so far). Sorry for all of you who go to crazy northeastern prep schools.

I go to a crazy easy school. They give you PILES of busy work assigned to be completed in one night that even my little 11-year-old brother can do. It takes hours and hours and hours, literally, especially all of it together cause I have seven classes. I actually do get my brother to do some of it sometimes.

but the sad thing is how easy it is. these piles of work consist of coloring (yes as in crayons and colored pencil, and i am a senior), fill in the blanks, word searches, endless lists of words to define (i learned how to use a glossary at age 4!!!), stupid posters...........none of this teaches anything

the teachers who are good actually happen to be the ones that spend class time teaching from what they know, and assign just a tad of homework, or if its a lot they give us lots of time to complete it

have you ever considered just doing the hw you need/want to do. I have C's - F's in all my hw grades in school, but I still make up for it on tests/quizzes. I'm guessing most of you are smart enought to do the same.

ack, i could never do that!!! got competitive people chasing my tail to be first

Who cares about class rank now? You've already applied to college, and dropping by a few rank wont hurt you. And why would anybody want to stand in front of 5000 people and give a corny speech at graduation?

Nainaija, you analyze too much. I was not insulting any school. I mentioned jhu because it's one of those elite schools that fall just short of HYPS in terms of prestige (if anyone here wants to argue that, go ahead).

Bankai- are you saying that pulling all nighters is a greater skill than managing your time wisely? If you've been doing homework right after you get home from school and still end up having to pull an all-nighter, sure that's a great skill to be able to handle all that workload. But if you pull an allnighter due to procrastinating, I don't think that's something to brag about, and you will suffer the consequences.

In college, it's true that even the best time managers will have to pull allnighters occasionally, but that's because the workload is just too heavy, not because they've been putting the work off till the last minute.

maguo1-----two words: asian parents

actually more....It really wouldn't feel so good to drop in rank cause i don't go to a competitive school at all...it's just one girl who does everything to keep her grades as high as possible...so if i drop it'll be like....defeat after so long

i wouldn't be able to deal, esp. since the school is so easy...if I can't be first at a school like this, it's sad

whenwillitbeover--i'm chinese, one hundred percent mandarin chinese. I used to live in Rockville Maryland as well. All I can say is to forget about that crap. Your leaving your house a few months after you graduate, so you won't have to listen to them yelling about you "losing face" and what not.

i know i won't care after high school, but i also care about how i feel in the present, and 2 instead of 1 would be stupid when this school is so easy...i would hate to lose out on it when all it takes is 4 more months of a little work...laziness never gets you anywhere

to me, i really doubt its "azn parents"
in fact i think U would like to stay at number 1. to me that is a WHOLE LOT more respectable.

if that's truly the case, i'd like to commend u. self-motivation is definitely the key these days.

yeah, you're right, it's not really my parents at all

thanks.

lol np
o yea chlor. in response to ur post... yes.
actually i didn't read that at all it seemed really long....

Be prepared to spend MANY MORE all nighters at Hopkins... :)

ive never had an all nighter during hs...i dont know how i'll be able to handle it in college since ive never experienced it before. gah. there's so many things i havent done yet that i know i'll be going through in college.
