All-Nighters

How many of you can actually tolerate staying up all freakin night and studying? I mean jeez, that takes tolerance or training. I drank 2 cups of coffee, hopefully it will last me through the night...

i have just recently discovered the wonders of time management. it is great because most of the time (i have a relapse once in a while) i can go to sleep so early now. remembering, my days of all-nighters, 2 cups was never enough for me. usually i didnt drink coffee though. just maybe 4 or 5 cans of coke spread out over the entire night. good luck!

what i usually do and what you should try is studying until about 12 or 1 and then getting up early the next morning. unless this is like a major major test than you might have to stay up all night. good luck.

wow what i find good
is sleep for like 1 hour, it lasts you a good 5 more hours
repeat cycle.

It happens quite often, unfortunately, and not just for lack of time management. I don't drink coffee to wake myself up -- actually, if I find myself craving a late snack, green apples are a good pick-me-up. Then if I feel myself starting to nod off again, I'll get up, splash some cold water on my face, get a glass of ice water and retreat to my lair to finish my work. I think it's easier to fall asleep in a warm environment, so I'll also leave a window open or a fan on to keep the room relatively cold.

Good luck :-D

^ that was a disaster for me when i tried it lol. i got up, opened my book for, hmmm maybe a good 9 minutes, and then i went right back to sleep. but hey, whatever works for you.

When I had a lot to do but couldn't get anything done I'd go to bed and get up at 3:30 to do homework.

lol I remember one time I had to study for an AP bio test and it was only about 9:30 and I had pulled a semi-all nighter the night before so I was already tired. I went into my room and looked at my bed and just got inside. I just told myself I would rest for a few minutes. I sort of fell asleep and woke up abruptly because I was scared I was going to fall asleep. I looked at the clock and it was 9:33. So I put my head back down and ended up falling asleep....for good....I woke up at 1:00 and my heart started pounding like crazy. I couldn't believe I did something so stupid hahaha.

Lesson: Do NOT take nap breaks when studying unless you have an alarm on

Haha this has been the first year for me to pull all-nighters...

let's see the first one was the night before school to finish reading a novel for summer reading and analysis, and tonight will be my second, to complete a research paper for English.

WHY ARE ALL MY ALL-NIGHTERS FOR ENGLISH!?!?!?

I wish I didn't procrastinate so much. Today was the first day I got home earlier than 7 or 8 because we just finished our fall show in drama. I did NOTHING from 2:30 till now, and I am still procrastinating by posting here.

Maybe caffeine will help - I have a large thermos of black tea and several Monsters in my closet.

I have to write a paper for English, outline a chapter for Bio, and do labs for Bio and Chem.

o man, ive extensivally researched sleep because i get so little of it. Ill tell you 1 thing, the best thing for staying up is caffeine pills and the cold. take 2 200mg ones at about 12, and 2 more right before school at 6:30. i can't stand the taste of coffee. also i have investigated several forms of napping which require discipline i don't have, but will hope to develop

d4:
Monster/Coffee - taste - sugar rush (leading to crash) = Caffeine pills

Solution to sugar rush = low carb monster

Yeah, I'm going to be up until about 5 am..and then sleep for an hour and a half...I'm breaking out the high-caffeine tea!

I've never done an all-nighter and I never plan on doing one...Normally I finish hw/go to bed around 10. Sometimes on Sundays I go to bed around midnight if I have my weekly AP World essay that I procrastinated on, but normally I finish hw around 10.

Pitch what grade are you in?

I didn't even start having reasonable amounts of homework until Junior year, heh..

I'm in Junior year also lol. I'm taking 4 APs, Band, and Trig (they didn't offer an honors Trig unfortunately..). I'll also be self studying 3 APs.

Next year I'll be taking 5 APs and Band.

Oh lol I'm a Senior, Junior year I did have reasonable work, but never anything that would take me until midnight haha.

I REALLY need to finish this paper >_>

Yeah my AP World class is ridiculous. A 10+ page outline of the chapter and a 4-5 page chapter essay is due every Monday. And now that its second quarter, we have a 30 page term paper also (due in like 3 weeks...=[).

30 page term paper? That's REALLY harsh!

Well it is History so I doubt that you wouldn't have enough material to blabber on for 30 pages about =P
