Governor cuts Penn State funding

So, Penn State is now having to cut its funding by 21 million dollars. Also, Penn State students are not eligible for the financial aid that is being handed out to many other colleges.

-What do you guys think?
-Why is Penn State NOT worthy, and others are?
-What will we ultimately lose from this? (Funding for THON, Hershey Medical, football games, organizations and clubs.)

The funding will actually remain the same as this year. While PSU was budgeted $20M more last year, the allocation was cut by $21M midyear so PSU did not receive the budgeted amount.

Right, but in the 2009-2010 school year it will be cut by $21 million. They're saying they'll do their best to maintain the cost of tuition, but I don't see how that's possible.

No, the amount is the new budget is the same as the amount PSU actually received this year.

PSU has already budgeted a 5.5% tuition increase for next year. The hope in that it won't have to go higher. There will be no raises for faculty and staff next year.
