There's two things I really want to be. Either a dermatologist or an astronomer. Astronomy I enjoy more, but the job outlook isn't that great compared to something in the medical field.

A dermatologist I like next, but I don't know if I can pull the grades off.

If anyone has any information, what are good high school and college grades for becoming a physician, specifically dermatologist?

Your first job is to get into med school. That will require a high GPA and strong MCAT scores. You worry about what specialty you want when you're an intern, after 4 years of med school. Dermatology is one of the hardest specialties to crack these days because it is high paying. In the age of botox and all the different cosmetic treatments derms do, they are some of the fortunate few doctors who can make a lot of money with limited dealings with insurance companies. This makes competition fierce. Being a top student at a top med school certainly helps.

My brother-in-law is in this field. He went to medical school at Northwestern. The key is to take a strong science program at the undergraduate level, then do well on the MCAT--and make sure you have great recommendations and internships while in school. There are so many qualified applicants for medical school nowadays it's almost like a lottery when it comes time to determine who gets accepted.
