I'm a German international student. How do universities in America calculate the GPA of international students? I'm asking because our grading system is slightly different; We have six grades instead of five and an A in Germany is much harder to obtain than an A in America. Moreover, an A in Germany is VERY rare.
I'm one of the few who obtain As in classes. How do Admission officers respond to these cases? Do they use the American GPA (A = 1, B = 2 etc.) system or do they accurately convert German (or international grades whose systems are different) to GPA?
