This may seem like a stupid question, but how do you convert a percent grade to one on a scale of 4? The princeton review seems to say that anything above a 95 is a 4 but I assumed that a 4 gpa equaled 100%. I had always thought before I read that that you just multiplied the grade by four and divided it by 100. So how do you convert it?

It's different at all schools, so I'll give you mine:

93-100: 4
90-92: 3.7
87-89: 3.3
83-86: 3.0
80-82: 2.7
And so on.

However, you shouldn't convert a gpa to a 4.0 scale- you should convert every grade to the 4.0 scale and then average it out, otherwise you are misrepresenting it (ie a 94 gpa most likely isn't a 4.0, but rather a 3.9something due to possible grades below a 93.)

But it doesn't really matter- most colleges will do it on their own scale anyway.
