I am applying to Barnard RD (fingers crossed!) and i was wondering how they are going to evaluate GPA’s. my school does not weigh gpa’s. I have a uw overall 3.7 although i have taken honors and AP’s all throughout high school.

Also branching off from the same idea - my senior fall term gpa is lower than what i normally is, a 3.53. However, I am taking 4 AP classes and 1 honors. Is this going to look bad? especially if i ended my junior year with a 3.8?

I personally dont think GPA matters as much as people make it out to be… Im not saying its not considered at all… but you have to think all schools grade differently and this mean that they cant just rank everyone by GPA… I think GPA is considerd but from a much broader standpoint than what peopls commonly think.

I’ve been told that a lot of schools recalculate all GPAs, based on the curriculum, weighting, etc. I don’t know if that holds true for Barnard.

Also, I tend to think that those with relatively good GPAs (like yours) are evaluated on every other part of the application – essays, scores, recs.

Don’t worry too much. There’s nothing you can do now.
