GPA~ For UC colleges

Hello Everyone, I would like to know if it would be possible to get into a UC college such as UC Davis, UC Irvine or even UC San Diego with my GPA of 3.3 and so far taking 1 honors and 1 AP(planning to take more next year). I am currently in the 11th grade and do extra curricular such, chamber orchestra (3years) ,volunteering(6months), building bikes for charity and I am planning on taking up medical camp. I am also interested in the major of becoming a Doctor and was wondering if any of the above colleges would even consider me as a potential undergraduate at their University. I would like to go to these colleges as my options but if there are other colleges you might want to recommend please do I would love to know. I am the first undergraduate in my joint family and would like to know as much as possible. Thank you again for all your help

I think it will be very difficult for you to get into those UCs since your GPA is below average and your classes aren’t that rigorous. I think your best bet is to get a super good sat at least 2000 and maybe Irvine might take you. UCs are pretty competitive now. I myself and many friends have taken 10+ ap classes with 4.0 GPA only hoping to get into Davis. I also believe junior year is the most important year because they only see your first semester grades in senior year.

Average UC GPA for all UC’s except for UCR/UCR/UCSC is 4.0+. Your best chances would be UCR/UCM even with a high SAT. GPA is an overall better indicator of your academic HS career, so UC’s place a large emphasis on GPA. If you are in-state California, many of the Cal States would be good options such as Cal Poly Pomona, Chico State, Sonoma State, San Francisco State, Sac State etc… The best thing you could do right now is study hard to increase that GPA and get good test scores. At the end of your Junior year, calculate your UC/CSU GPA with the link and repost with all your Stats. Good Luck.

this is unweighted my GPA, besides getting my GPA up what would you think about University of Illinois ?

So what is your predicted UC GPA weighted?? I estimated based on your Honors/AP Classes from Junior year, only about a 3.5?? Still low for most of the UC’s. UCSC could be a possiblity.
UC’s will only use 10-11th grades for UC GPA calculation, see link above^^^

They look at GPA of JUnior and senior year right so I can still get it up before admissions right? Hb any colleges outside California?

Only 10-11th grades for UC GPA. They will look at all your grades for the a-g courses 9th-11th and see which classes you take Senior year, but Freshman and Senior grades will not factor into the UC GPA. Senior grades will keep your provisional admission since you need to maintain a 3.0 weighted GPA with no D’s or F’s or chance being rescinded.

What do you think about outside of california any colleges that are good becausse now im worried :’(

What’s wrong with the Cal States? Are you in need of financial aid? How much can your parents afford? The Western Undergraduate Exchange has a list of Western state colleges where California residents would get reduced tuition. Here is the link to the list so maybe one of these OOS schools might be of interest.

The best thing you can do now is to calculate your CSU/UC GPA at the end of Junior and get some test scores to see where you stand. Repost with your Stats and CC posters can help you with a list of realistic colleges to apply.

Where in CA are you? One option would be to do 2 years at your local CC, keep your grades up, and transfer into a UC. Also look at the CSUs like someone above mentioned. There are probably a number of privates that would work as well, although I’m not as familiar with the less-selective ones in CA.

oh olay thanks everyone fot ur help ill update my stats afterwards
