I typically see people with mediocre GPAs asking how high their LSAT needs to be in order to have a chance at HYSCCN. What about the converse? I haven't taken the LSAT yet, but I expect to finish my UG career at a T10 with a 3.9+. I'm also hoping/expecting to do well on the LSAT with lots of practice, of course, but I'm just looking for a ballpark number. What would make me competitive at HYS with a 3.9 from a T10 UG? Anything 170+? Or more like 174+?

Thanks!

Thanks! Geez, Yale is weird lol

T10 undergrad will provide a decent boost. 170 + will put you in the running at any of the big 3, check lawschoolnumbers.com to see what i mean. there are a few h admits with 170/171 3.9 top undergrad.

H is a pretty numbers-based admissions process:

170-172 you have a chance at H, especially given your top undergrad. but things are far from certain, you will need some extra pizaaz to get in.

173-174 will be wishy washy territory, probably greater than 75% chance but things can still go wrong.

175+ will be a virtual guarantee

as bluedevilmike said, can’t predict Y or S, but anything 170+ puts you into consideration. at that point it comes down to softs like work experience, major national awards, published anything, leadership, etc.

BTW for CCN. with a 3.9 i would say high 160’s will put you in the race, 168-169.

with a 170 you will almost certainly get into one of HYSCCN.
