How difficult is it to keep a 3.75 GPA at Pitt?

My major will be Neuroscience. I also want to study Music, as either a double major or minor, also probably minoring in French as well. (Don't worry I have a TON of AP credits).
Oh, and I will also be pre-med.

So is a 3.75 attainable with hard work? Or will it also be stressful?
Thanks!!

So a 4.0 average is having either As or A+s? What numerically is that range of grades? Is it possible with A+s to have over a 4.0? Are honors classes worth more than regular classes so by getting As in them you can have a higher grade/over 4.0 in comparison to just taking regular classes?

Ok I see. So is the numeric range for an A from 92 or 93 and above? Or are grades only given in letter grades so one doesn’t need to consider a number but a specific range of numbers to get a certain grade?

The numeric range corresponds to the letter grade depending upon how the class does. For example: if the class average is 40 (a C) then if you have a 65 or so, you will probably get an A. It all depends upon how the professor does the curve. Professors do have an idea of how many A, B, C’s they will give out and will adjust their curve accordingly. It has been years since I have been in college but I don’t believe the grading process has changed all that much.

There was an article in the Pitt News (perhaps last semester) about how professors prepare their grades. It was interesting and if you can locate it, would give you some insight into the process. It is different from high school :)

So your grade really depends on the professor, curve, and other students in your class pretty much? and of course personal hard work in getting a good grade to begin with or at least one of the As or Bs the professor has planned to hand out? And MTnest I will definitely look into that article you’re talking about

I’ve maintained a 3.75, but I’m not a science major. It will be much more difficult, especially Neuroscience, which is probably one of the hardest majors at Pitt. However, Music and French may help you maintain that GPA.
