Freshman year I had a 3.1 uw and 3.25 w, this sophomore year i finished with a 3.43 uw and 3.57 w, despite have a final D average in my honors history class where like the idiot I am waived into it from freshman year, the rest of my grades were all A's and just a B in english other than history. I only took honors in Math and History, but got an A easily in my math class. This year though I did really well in my regular science class and got recommended for Honors Chem, I started high school thinking about being a lawyer perhaps, but that won't go to well, and I found out the hard way that I am made better for math and science. Next year my goal is to get a UW GPA as close to 4.0 as possible. BTW combining both freshman and sophomore year I have a 3.38 w and 3.24 uw. Next year the only honors I am taking are in CHem and Pre Calc. Senior year I plan to take AP Pysch, AP CALC, and AP in a Science.

By the time you are a senior, you’ll want to get your UW GPA up to/over 3.5. You’ll probably have to explain the D in your transcript via an additional essay (doesn’t have to be long, but explain it in your application) & hope that all your other grades are A/B (try not to slip below that).

Just an FYI, anyone can be a lawyer. Some branches-- like Tax Law or Patent Law, require a lawyer with a strong math/science background first.

Also remember that you’ll want to do well on your SAT-- at LEAST a 600 on both M & CR, if not higher.

Lastly, I feel like you post this (“What are my chances”) a lot. And you always get the same advice. I would focus on doing well in school, doing well on the SAT, and getting a leadership position in a club or two. At the middle/end of your junior year, after you know your SAT scores, is the next time you should ask about your chances. You’re too far away from applying for anyone to give you a good answer right now.
