My daughter worked her butt off and got the 100% Bright Futures. I know she needs to keep a 3.0 GPA once in college to keep the 100% Bright Futures. My question is this: How is the GPA for Bright Futures calculated? She has 33 dual enrollment credits which will transfer to UF. Do all college credits (including dual enrollment) count towards the Bright Futures GPA needed to renew it? Or only UF college credits?
The DE credits will not apply to her college GPA. All she would see on her UF transcripts, is “credit” for the classes, no grades.
But Wouldn’t her overall GPA still be calculated from some of those DE classes. Like if she had a 4.0 in her DE classes and finished with a 3.0 at UF in the fall wouldn’t her GPA still be above 3.5 overall.
Your dual enrollment credits do not count toward your GPA here at UF! Your UF GPA after your first year, and for the next years, will be the only thing that determines if you keep the Bright Futures scholarship. Once you are here, I believe your dual enrollment credits will never be averaged with your UF GPA until applying to a graduate school!
Thank you! It is very good to know this going in!
