Is your UF GPA the same as your Bright Futures GPA?

...Yes? Anyone?

Yes, it is I believe.

I have noticed a difference in the treatment of Spanish III. It's an honors weighted class but Bright Futures did not weight it. The other thing is Bright Futures looks like it'll count only the grades from the required number of credits in each of the 5 academic areas, plus the extra 3 more credits in the five categories. My understanding of what the colleges use is ALL of the credits in the 5 categories. So if I took 6 Math Credits, 4 Science, etc, then the State Universities would include all the academic grades.

The weighting is different for Bright Futures and UF.
Bright Futures weights .5 for honors, AP, IB, AICE or dual enrollment.
UF weights .5 for honors/dual enrollment and 1.0 for AP/IB/AICE.

cybermom I might be wrong but I don't think that's the case. I believe they use the same system of .5 honors/dual enrollment and 1 for AP/IB

I just had this discussion with my son's guidance counselor and it seems as though cybermom is correct on how bright futures calculates.

Yeah, cybermom is right actually. I just checked the bright futures brochure. It says they give ".5 for all advanced classes as per state law." That's STUPID!

So that means UF gpa should be slightly higher?

^^^^^^^exactly

My apologies
