Chance me possibly for RD for Boston College

School is in a very affluent suburb in Illinois. Graduating class is approximately 800 kids and 25+ kids go to top 20 schools.

Never decreased in GPA. from 3.5 freshman year to 4.2 junior year.

Letters of Rec: pretty good. Not the best by any means.

APPLIED TO COLLEGE OF ARTSCI for economics

1st semester of senior year, I received a 4.1667 gpa but I got a C in AP Calculus AB.

Thanks!

Bump for this “What are my chances?” thread.

I think you have a great shot.

It’s interesting to see that some schools only weigh the grades (our school only unweighs)… Anyways I think you have a stellar chance. Your scores are in the range, your GPA and courseload are good (don’t worry too much about that C).

And yes, BC is very serious about serving others, so it’s good that you seem to have a lot of volunteer activities and community involvements.

Good luck!

Bump! How is the financial aid at Boston College. I’ve heard both sides to the story as well. Are they need-blind?

Yes, BC is need-blind in admissions.

Just a note, it’s pretty easy to calculate UW GPA even if your school doesn’t use it (mine doesn’t and it took me about two seconds to figure out mine).

Anyway, I am very similar to you except different EC’s and white male instead of Korean male, so I’m hoping that both of us are on the right side of the fence.

I think my unweighted GPA is around a 3.5 but since our school doesn’t officially release them, I am not quite sure. But I have taken a fairly hard courseload.

bump bump bump bump

any other thoughts?

Yes. In a few short weeks, you’ll be getting the definitive answer - one that no one on this forum can provide.

Does anyone know when regular decision letters were sent last year for BC?

Last year my daughter’s acceptance letter was dated March 21.

As we near the decision date, I’m so nervous! Boston College as of now is my top choice.

Good luck to you man. I like you have a 3.5 UW and a 3.9 W (well actually 3.98 but who’s counting), and I definitely think our profiles are similar. Hopefully we’re both at BC next year!

@Yoadee and @Cof2013 Good luck to both you guys! Sounds like each of you has a good shot!

Good luck to both of you guys as decisions come in the next couple of days! BC is my number one and my stats are very similar to both of yours so we’ll see how it goes. Hope to see you all at BC next year! Can’t wait for my decision.

화이팅ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
you’ll probably get in.

Fellow Koreans, hello! It’s great to see Asian applicants here. I don’t know about BC, but when I visited Notre Dame during a football game, I felt like a tourist even though I’ve lived here forever :DD

Yoadee, your stats are very similar to my son’s who is also a Korean-American (in Oregon) though your EC looks a little better than his.
GPA: 3.83 UW/4.03 W
SAT: 2000 SATII US history:760
7 or 8 AP classes
He also got a C in AP calc
He has been accepted at Brandeis, U of Richmond, U of Rochester, U of Washington, U of
Oregon and anxiously (at least I am) waiting to hear from BC.
Good luck to you!
