How do I get my GPA? I know that A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0, but hell... I'm an international student and I have like 12 subjects or so... Plus I don't have As or Bs or Cs, but grades from 1 to 5. How does that work?

What exam board/ curriculum are you under?

“Plus I don’t have As or Bs or Cs, but grades from 1 to 5. How does that work?” what does this mean?

Not having a GPA doesn’t put you in any adverse situation. Adcomms will use your grades marks class rank course load etc to judge you so don’t worry

First of all, don’t convert your grades. Report them on the scale that they are given.

If your school computes a grade point average, use that.

Otherwise, I suggest you skip that question on the application. If you really want to compute a GPA, there are a few ways of doing that.

Unweighted. Just average all of the grades you ever got in high school.

Weighted by credit hours. If one of your classes meets 5 hours a week and another meets for 2 hours, the grade from the 5-hour class could be given proportionally more weight.

Weighted by class difficulty. If there are honors versions of the same classes, some schools add grade points to the honors classes to account for the difficulty. (e.g. a B in an honors class would be treated the same as an A in the regular class)

If you want a GPA on a 4.0 scale for purposes other than college admissions, you could use the [WES grade conversion guide](Country Resources - WES.org) to translate your grades one at a time and then compute a GPA from the converted grades.
