How does the UCLA GPA system work. I mean they have three A grades [A+, A and A-] so I'm all confused as to how many units does an A grade or an A+ have.

A+ = 4.0
A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
C+ = 2.3
C = 2.0
C- = 1.7

Let’s not talk about Ds and Fs ;)

Getting a A in a 5 unit class has a greater affect on your GPA than getting an A in a 4 unit class. The same for every letter. The more units your class is, the more weight it will have on your GPA. Most humanities lower division courses are 5 units. Most upper division humanities are 4 units. Most lower and upper division science courses are 4 units.
