<p>So ive been looking at uc's and people say 4.0+ ucgpa. How is above 4.0 possible when 4.0 is an A for any class</p>

<p>They’re talking about weighted GPAs. It’s common for weighted GPA scales to go up to 5.0 and for honors and AP classes to count as an extra point (for example, if you get a B it’s counted as a 4.0 in the averaging). A 4.0 weighted GPA, if one is in all honors or AP classes, is a B average, which is not bad but is not especially impressive, certainly not among applicants to the UCs.</p>
