ok so i have heard so many variatons of how GPA is measured from a number of reliable sources. I understand that every school doe it differently but i want to know how colleges would calculate my highschool GPA. On websites colleges say they want a 3.5 GPA but what does that truly mean? Is a 4.0 a 100 or a 93
This gets tiresome to type over and over. You could have an average of a 95 but each class counts separately. For an example use a 93 as an A (which is 4 quality points), 85 - 92 as a B (3 points). See how many credits each class is (or see if any classes are 1/2 year classes which will count less). Sum Points x credits and divide by credits.
For the most part, colleges look at your transcript rather than your GPA because your transcript offers more info about what classes you’re taking and what grades you’re getting in them.
