Gpa

What are students avg GPA in UCD?
especially for College of Biological Sciences?

For the school the average gpa is 3.0 you can find it under one of the reports at http://www.sariweb.ucdavis.edu/downloads/profile04.pdf it's a ways down in the paper

oh..dont have pdf ...
but 3.0??that's WAY too LOW..wow...

With grade inflation some schools have much higher grade averages, but many of those schools are no asking professors not to automatically give out A's. Some even set a percentage of A's a prof can give in a class. A normal curve would be closer to a C but since this is a decent college it isn't unusual for the curve to shift toward a median grade of B.

Oh be proud. UCD is one of the few schools that actively fights grade inflation. People still talk about the Harvard scandal, when it came to light that half of their students got A's (and a good portion of the other half got B's): http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1133702
In fact, some departments (like Economics) actually require that their departmental GPA be a 2.7, which means every class in that department is curved to a 2.7. LOL, I hate that actually. I've had more than one A assignment get knocked down to a B because too many people had higher A's than me. But I do think A's have lost their meaning.

You will run into the occassional professor who believes there's no such thing as a perfect paper, but in most of your classes at Davis, you will get the grade you deserve. A lot of Freshmen have trouble with this, coming from their grade-inflated high schools, but in the end, you're forced to stop thinking about statistics and start thinking about what you're learning. And, despite getting the grades they earn, UCD students know their material. Look at the statistics, look at the first-time bar passage rate (conveniently printed on the back of your catalog), look at your field. In the end, what matters is not your grade, but whether you know your stuff, and UCD students do.

yeah...true..
but see...that's not that great when ppl are applying for MEdical School..or something..
cuz of their school GPA (even tho with high MCAT score) they will be rejected from some TOP schools

An average gpa of 3.0 isn't bad, lots of people get A's. If you study and know your material you'll get an A. My friend whose an exchange student from Edinburgh only got one B the entire year he was here. One of the guys in my junior level physics class had a gpa of 3.92. So it's entirely possible to get a good gpa.

well...a 3.0 for applying medical school..that's like 3rd tier school already...
