Hi everyone! So I have a year left of school at USC, and I'm thinking about auditioning for my masters likely after taking a year off of school. I'm a soprano, not necessarily focused in opera but not against it- I've been leaning more towards early music and contemporary music. I speak French fluently, and the first place I thought of was the Paris conservatory, as well as McGill (although I'm not much of a winter person). I was wondering if anyone knew about the voice programs at either of these schools, as well as if they had any recommendations for other schools to look into that aren't in the United States. Thanks so much!

Daniel Taylor, countertenor, left McGill for the University of Toronto. He is doing great stuff there.

Why have you specifically ruled out US schools?

I suppose it’s because I’m looking to leave the country, possibly for my career as well. But honestly I’m open to ideas in general, even in the states.

My daughter is headed to the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. One great reason to go abroad : the price is much lower for a masters. But mainly she is really drawn to the musical culture in Europe, which seemed freer, more diverse, supportive, but also rigorous. Paris would be wonderful!
