Grad School at Dartmouth?

I was accepted to the MALS program at Dartmouth (which would begin this summer), with a substantial scholarship offer. Can anyone speak as to the atmosphere/social life for graduate students? I was also accepted at a graduate program (CCT) at Georgetown as well (which has the major advantage of being in DC) and I'm quite torn at this point.

Has anyone been through the MALS program that can give me some pointers? Any input from either the Georgetown/Dartmouth perspective would be very welcome!

I’m an undergrad at Dartmouth, and I would never, ever go to Dartmouth for grad school.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Dartmouth as an undergrad and it’s one of the best experiences of my life…

However, a lot of Dartmouth is going to the frats (since there is no nightlife) and grad students usually have a tough time with that since they cannot be affliated, and hanging out with undergrads in a frat basement usually doesn’t appeal to them.

I am finishing my degree in the MALS program and I am very happy. Although the undergrad who posted above states that there is no real social life; once you get the grad school level it really isn’t all about social life.

The MALS students get together quite often, there are a few bars in town, house parties and so on, but for the most part we are busy doing research and work.

Lets think about this… Georgetown or Dartmouth. No brainer. Ivy or Jesuit… I say Ivy.

Anyhow I think you would like it here, Boston is like hour and 45 away, Montreal is 3 hrs North… The town of Hanover can get boring, but on the flipside the education you get and the contacts and alumni network is PRICELESS.
