Grad Week Guide

shogun, aspen, Big Green,

See you in a month...

http://www.usma.edu/Class/2009/gradbooklet091.pdf

Yippieeeee!!!

Hard to believe that in one month our cadets will be 2nd lieutenants.

As slow as Beast seemed to pass during the first summer, the last two years have flown by at mach speed.

Congrats to all the firsties and their supportive parents.

Congratulations to all of you!

Im headed for Trader Joe’s for a case of Two-Buck Chuck!!!

shogun,

I’ll join you…

Sweet! You all are living proof that there is light at the end of an academic 4-year tunnel. But please do stay with us Plebe-soon-to-be-Yuk parents: we still need your words of wisdom and encouragement and senses of humor too!!

My prayers are with the Class of 2009. Congratulations to the cadets and kudos to the parents who support them! You will never know how much you have helped us along this journey as we have watched yours from afar. Godspeed!

2009 parents–how are you handling lunch after grad ceremony, and before bar pinning?

We have 3 new Lts. sharing a location and time for their pinning ceremony immediately following graduation. The moms - all in different states and we don’t know each other - have already hired a caterer (yay!).

Wow - graduation week is just around the corner now. We are going up to see a good friend’s daughter graduate, so I will be cheering for those that I “know” from CC too. I have really enjoyed following your posts over the years and hope you will all continue to share your experiences with us after graduation.
I wish your sons and daughters everything of the best for the future.

Shogun,

I suggested to my wife that we ‘go native’ and order a case of MRE’s for our group. I’ve heard the vegetarian omlette meal is ‘to die for’.

My recommendation was vetoed and we’re going to pack a cooler with some sandwiches and snacks in case the Pinning Ceremony gets delayed and the local food choices aren’t acceptable. We’ll leave the cooler in the car during graduation and pick it up after, if needed, and bring it to the Pinning Ceremony location.

Hope the weather cooperates.

2009 flooded for PPW. The Ring Ceremony had to move indoors due to rain so not enough plebes chased those firsties around for Ring Poop. We better have good weather for graduation. The Class of 2009 (and their parents) deserve it. ;)

Yeah, no kidding. I have yet to see a West Point parade.

Clear and sunny until Saturday with a 30% chance of showers later in the day. I can live with that.

The forecast has now moved the 30% chance of rain to Sunday. Sunny and temps in the 80’s for Thursday thru Saturday. Don’t know who’s been praying, but keep it up.

I’m packing the sunscreen and leaving the rainsuit at home.

Weather has been gorgeous so far. I don’t have your confidence though, aspen. I brought ponchos and will buy a couple more today - just in case.

We had a wonderful time - congratulation to all of the newly minted LTs and their families!

I have been following the course of your children (certainly not children any longer) for 4 years - vicariously, of course, through the glimpses you have shared of their experiences. You were kind enough to lend an ear when it looked like I might join your merry band. Congratulations on the end of your West Point parent adventure.

Thank you for generously sharing your insights and encouragement with the people on this forum. And thank you for courageously sharing your newly minted 2LT’s with our country.

KateLewis,

Great to hear from you!!! Thanks for the kind words.

It’s funny. For the last 6 or 7 years I’ve looked at the Firsties toss their hats up after graduation. They always looked so mature, confident, and happy. It’s an amazing feeling to see it “live” and know that my own child (yup, they’re always our children) is one of them. It’s been an incredible experience for the cadets/Lts. and for the parents.

I’ll post more later. It’s my first morning back at work and I really need to stop stalling and do something with those emails. :(

Congratulations to all the new 2 Lt’s! What fantastic weather you had for the week and weekend!
