Grade conversion when transferring to Canadian university

Hello.

Do you guys know whether canadian universities only considee pure gpa when evaluating international students? That would seem quite dumb to me. I am currently at the second best university in my country, however that means that grades in here are way lower than in other institutions around the country, because they simply make things harder. Like, there are classes where 70% of the class fails because the professor ist very, very, VERY stringent. I am currently one of the best students from my year’s mechanical engineering intake, however when I convert to GPA my grade is just ridiculously average, in canadian or north american standards, so I wanted to know whether they will just convert my grade to gpa face value or whether they will take in consideration where I’m from, and stuff like that, since I’m an international student.

My guess is that they will probably compare your grades with other students from your university, particularly if it is a very well known university. At the very least, I think that it is worth applying and seeing what happens.
