Grade deflation????

I'm planning to apply to UDub and go to med school after I complete undergrad. How is the workload at UDub? Is there grade deflation? Is it hard to keep a good GPA? What majors are the best to attain a high GPA?

Anyone?

There are many things to factor in when answering your questions. First, are you a transfer or freshman? Second, the workload varies depending upon your major and/or professor. For example, I’ve had 200 level classes that were far more work than 400 level classes, so getting an accurate response to that question will be difficult. As far as what majors are easy to get a good GPA in, I think it depends on your interests. If you hate what you’re studying there is a pretty good shot you aren’t going to attain a high GPA irrespective of its level of difficulty.

It is literally impossible to give you the answers you are looking for. The workload will vary from class to department to Professor to TA to day to week to quarter. Maintaing your GPA is on you and your interests alone. Additionally, if your motive is only maintain a high GPA to get into medical school without exploring what really interests you, I wish you the best of luck! Especially when writing your personal statements when applying to medical school and interviewing. I am also pre-med and juggling a couple different options; the more I learn about what I have to choose from, the more I realize how little I really know about myself. I am planning to use the time I have as undergrad at the UW to do the best I can in the pre-reqs for med school, and discover what it is that I am truly interested in. The possibilities as an undergrad are endless. Especially at the UW. If you find something you enjoy, I am sure you will do well.
