Just wondering how cutthroat/competitive UDub is. I know it is very good for med school. If I put in good effort, will I be able to achieve a good GPA (3.7+)?
P.S. If I apply and get admitted next year I plan on majoring in Business administration

If you go into your college experience striving for a number, you won’t actually gain anything valuable.

I’m not trying to go all philosophical on you, but go into college with the desire to learn. If you do that, only a high GPA will result. I went to a lecture given by a UW professor gave and he stressed that students stop worrying about numbers.

Major in something that interests you and something that you feel will help later in life. If that’s business administration, go for it. Keep in mind premed classes too when choosing a major.

Even if my advice isn’t your forte, I highly suggest not going somewhere just to go somewhere else. (ie. a medical school)

Good luck! :)

givoau’s advice is excellent and I recommend taking it. With that said, a more numeric answer to your question may be found at

gradeinflation.com,

which provides grade inflation trends for the past several decades for many schools, including the University of Washington. Bear in mind when using it that it is an aggregate average for a school, not any individual or major (there are a number of 4.0s each year at many schools).
