Grade Deflation

I am strongly considering attending Haverford next year; however, I had heard that there was some grade inflation at the school, with even scores as high as 94% not being considered A-grade worthy. I'm interested in applying to graduate school after, and am considered that such a policy might drastically impact my GPA for the worse. Has anyone heard/does anyone know anything about this?

I don’t quite understand if you’re worried about grade deflation, grade inflation or grade compression. Regardless, based on my experience and in speaking to HC kids over the last 10 years, this issue hasn’t really come up except for, like I mentioned before, the Bio department being more generous with grades than others.

These is no universal grading policy @ HC and most of the guidelines are departmentally set with some freedom at the professor level. The example you’re describing sounds very unfair and I’m not sure where you got your information for me to comment. I will say that professors (and department chairs) are very receptive to student comments and such grading (if even present) wouldn’t last too long in HC’s academic environment.
