<p>Grade deflation is hard to measure. For example, if you found out that MIT gives out a greater percentage of A’s, you still can’t conclude anything about grade deflation because it is likely the case that there are more students capable of thoroughly understanding the material at MIT than there are at Berkeley.</p>
<p>Berkeley doesn’t really have grade deflation in most classes. There are many classes in which there is arguably some grade inflation (40% A’s) and even the stricter classes are fair - Berkeley curbs grade inflation more than it encourages deflation.</p>
