How is the courseload of Columbia? Are marks inflated or deflated? also, what mark do they consider an A, B, C, etc (i.e. 4, 3, 2, etc)? or is the grading system universal?

thanks! post your questions too!

A+ is 4.33
A is 4
A- is 3.66 and so on

thanks very much jono

does anyone know how these marks are distributed in class?
basically, are marks inflated or deflated in general compared to other ivy league schools?

A+ exists?

yes, according to the college bulletin. . . page 108

how difficult is columbia for premeds? extremely cut-throat and low GPAs?

I was premed at the college. It wasn't that bad. Yet, I wouldn't say Columbia has the greatest premed program. I am at Columbia College of physicians and surgeons now and they have way more HYP people. As far as grade deflation or inflation just keep in mind that your transcripts will have the percentage of people in the class who received an A. The relative difficulty of classes can be gauged much better by med schools.
