What exactly is grade inflation? Does it mean that the kids who argue with professors with higher grades end up getting higher grades, even though they don't deserve them, while kids who actually work hard and deserve higher grades end up getting lower or equal grades?

I've heard grade inflation is a huge problem at GWU, is this true?

Haven't seen that happen at all in the major science courses or in any of the general curriculum courses my D has taken in 3 years at GW. She was an A student in hs and has worked twice as hard for her grades in college. She has also been careful to choose professors with reputations for being very demanding of students so that she is assured of learning as much as possible since she has set her sight on grad school and wants to be competetive in that process. Other students experiences may vary.

so far in my (somewhat limited) experience, people have tended to get what they deserve gradewise. the ones who live at the library get A's and the one's who go shopping in georgetown all the time are on academic probation, so overall people receive what they earned.
