Does skipping a grade give me an edge in applying to top colleges? And also, when do I mention this? At an interview? Or in an essay?

Which grade did you skip?

2nd. And then I became homeschooled till middleschool. @toonotey

No. Colleges don’t care what you do in middle and elementary school.

They only care about 9th grade on (or in some instances 10th on).

@dliangsta I don’t think it gives you an edge. Unless it forced you into a situation in which you matured, learned some sort of life lesson, or something else along those lines, then by all means, use it in an essay. However, if skipping a grade is only supposed to show that you’re smart, then I really don’t see the point in mentioning it. Your high school transcript, test scores, etc. should testify enough to your academic standing. Besides, you have to fill in your date of birth anyways on college applications, and admission officers may notice that you are younger than most others applying.

Okay, thanks all!
