Grade Trend in Sophomore and Junior year?

So sophomore year, i had this positive letter grade trend. It would be easier if just showed the data first.

Sophomore:sem 1 2
Ap Calculus B A
Ap World B A
Honors Chem B A (UC weighted)
Spanish 3 A A
Physics A A
Honors English B B

As you can see there is a grade improvement where i went from an A to a B student, first semester GPA of about 3.6 and second semester, 4.17. This year, my schedule is this

AP Computer Science
AP U.S history
AP Spanish 4
AP Statistic
AP Chemistry
Honors English (UC weighted)

This question is mainly focused towards UCs, Berkeley to be specific. I'm only expected at most 3 As or maybe even only 2 which means that i will go back to being a B student. The problem is that this college advisor said, well obviously, but that i should continue these grade trends where i stay as an A student.

The question is, will the colleges look down on the fact that my letter grades dropped even though my GPA improves since even with only 2 As, my GPA will still be 4.3 which is an improvement from my GPA in sophomore year.

And also with these grades, what SAT score should i aim for to have a decent chance for admittance at Berkeley or UCSD. Right now i'm only at about 2050-2100, the latter at lucky occurrences.

I imagine that your grade trend wouldn’t be considered as going “down” if you take more rigorous courses. An A in Honors Chem is essentially the same as a B in AP Chemistry. The grade trend is equal. It’d only experience downturn if you became a C student with AP classes.

Okay that’s good to know. Then what SAT score should i range around to have a good chance at Berkeley? I have a decent amount of extracurricular if that needs to be accounted for.

Focus on your ECs. For any top tier university you’re going to want to aim for a 2100 as a minimum (just to put you in the mid-50th percentile of students).

Okay Thanks but another quick question. I know this should probably go to the SAT section but there’s no point in starting a new forum.

How good are the SAT practice tests by McGraw-Hill’s second edition. I have already finished all 10 tests on the collegeboard Blue book with no significant score increase so any tips on anyways to improve with these tests?

I have done the suggested which is go back and look at why you got each answer right and wrong and also went on here to find explantations for incorrect answers. I’m struggling most on the writing section, even though i memorized, i believe, all the rules, i still over think some problems and end up incorrectly answering the questions marked easy. Any tips?
