I’m currently a junior and my GPA is around 3.8; the problem is that my frosh year, I had a 4.0, and afterwards, it began to go down (somewhat of a downward trend). So, how would this trend look:

4.0, 4.0; 3.83, 3.67; 3.67, 4.0 ?

I’m sure the other areas (extra-curricular’s, rec’s, etc) will be good, except for this downward trend of GPA. The reason is that I took 5 Honors/AP classes for the first time during sophomore year, if that can be a legitimate reason at all.

I have a similar situation. I spoke to some admissions counselors at other top schools (i.e. Carnegie Mellon) and they told me that they won't hold a small drop in GPA against you, especially if you are challenging yourself with AP classes and taking on extra-curriculars (i.e. clubs, community service, part-time jobs, athletics)
