my school does not publish grades for transferred credits, thus grades from my study abroads are not included into my gpa. do i need to provide those transcripts to grad school admission offices??

Why doesn't your school publish those grades? My school not only publishes those grades but automatically calculates them into my gpa (so yes, the grad schools will see them). Anyway, the best thing you can do is to contact the schools to ask this question.

Wow...never heard of that...that really sucks. Do you know for a fact they don't post transfer grades? Maybe they never got the grades from the foreign institutions?

Just to back up what noface says, I did a study abroad and my transfer credit came in just the same as AP credit-- no grade, just credit. I hope grad schools don't need transcripts for these.

I believe if the classes you took abroad weren't in your major you should be fine, but if you took a major class it may be iffy.

My school also posted the credit and not the grades for all courses not taken specifically at the school.

General rule for applying to graduate school is this: If both the credit AND grades for all transfer courses are not included on your undergraduate transcript, then you must include the other transcripts with your graduate school application.

i think my school doesnt post credits from foreign universities because of completely different grading systems. I have taken biomedical engineering electives. Like engineering classes but not core/required class. Usually they are one of core courses at respective schools but my school just transferred them as engineering electives (and of course there is a set number of engineerng elective courses i have to take)

i guess, getting transcripts from others are a headache and grades dont look good.. would admission committees care if they dont see the grades?

I would steer clear of following "general rules" and check with each program's specific grad admissions office for their specific requirements well in advance. Most schools will require transcripts from ALL schools attended unless both the credit and the grades show up on the domestic transcript. Your home base college will probably have an official transcript from the study abroad school on file, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem to get.

Most schools will do an in-house evaluation and recalculate the grades into the American system/scale, and this evaluation will be attached to the transcript when it goes out for review, so I wouldn't worry about this.

request transcripts form ALL programs you've attended for grad school. Otherwise you have some explaining to do for that "missing" semester/year, right? Just call these study abroad program offices and request transcripts. It's not a problem at all.
