Grades??

I was just wondering about the trend in grades over your high school career...do colleges prefer consistency or perhaps an upward trend?

I myself had a 4.0 (all high A's and a couple A+) during my freshman and sophomore years

Now I have around a 3.8 unweighted...this is because I'm taking 4 AP's (I'm a junior btw), the most rigorous coursework my school offers thus far. Would this slight drop affect anything?

Just a little concerned that's all I mean I know it's still a relatively good GPA but I am very ambitious...

There isn’t a clear cut answer here, but basically an upward trend is always preferable, but if you had a 4.0 to begin with that’s not possible and they can’t fault you for that. I would think that a slight drop in your UW GPA wouldn’t be a big deal since you’re taking higher level classes, so as long as your GPA stays strong try not to worry about it. :)

The best trend is a flat 4.0 each year. Next best would be an upward trend. A 3.8 with a very hard load is very understandable and won’t be held against you except at the most competitive schools.

All you can do is work hard and try to make all A’s in your remaining coursework. Good luck!
