Grading/GPA/Rank

I'm currently still in high school, but I was wondering a few things about UT in general. How does their grading and letter assignment work? Is it like ACC, where any A is registered as a 4.0, or are there subcategories such as A-, A, A+, etc.

Secondly, I know many universities do use a ranking system to determine valedictorians, so how does UT base this off. If 4.0 is the maximum GPA, i'm sure there are several (at least more than 1) candidates for the spot.

Again, any feedback is appreciated and this is out of curiosity. Yes this thread may seem dumb, but I'm quite curious.

Thanks again guys!! :D

My friend who is in Cockrell Engineering school i forget his major
told me that they have A+ and A- B+ B- and so on…

its not like acc where an a is just a 90 and above and a b is a 80 and above

you’d have to ask a UT student to find out the gpa/grading system
i don’t know what gpa an A- or and b+ would be
but they do do the “plus” and “minus” gpa differently

Grade = Grade Point Value

A = 4.0
A- = 3.67
B+ = 3.33
B = 3.00
B- = 2.67
C+ = 2.33
C = 2.00
C- = 1.67
D+ = 1.33
D = 1.00
D- = 0.67
F = 0.00

heheheh. i’m really tempted to try for the 0.00 ;)
