Ok guys (and girls) who knows about the graduate programs? If i were to complete my bachelors at another university in psychology, and did exceptionally well could i get into the graduate program for psychiatry? Any info please? Also how would i go about it? What advice could anyone give me for fulfilling my dream of attending my dream ivy league school??!! :)

Psychology (Ph.D.) or psychiatry (M.D.)?

Psychiatry…

Psychiatry is a medical school program. MCATS and excellent GPA and med school pre-reqs. May I suggest you go to the med school sub forum?

You also can’t specialize like that in med school. Medical school is basically the same for everyone, especially for the first couple years. You’ll do rotations through a bunch of different fields, and then eventually apply to residency programs, which is where you’ll actually learn psychiatry. So basically, in order to get into Yale’s psychiatry program (aka, a psychiatry residency at Yale-New Haven), you’d need to get great grades and MCATs as an undergrad, and then also do really well in medical school.

If you actually mean a PhD in psychology, research is CRUCIAL. So go to a place where you can do lots of that.
