Graduate School (Biomedical Engineering) Selection: JHU, Yale, Boston, NWU and Columbia

Hello everyone, nice to meet you guys here.

I am an international student and I plan to pursue my master’s degree in U.S. Currently I have got the admission from Yale, NWU, Boston, JHU and Columbia. It’s really a tough decision to choose one of them and decline all others.

Could you guys give me some advice and help me to make a decision? I know JHU is definitely the best in BME field. But I believe Yale and Columbia are more well-known. I plan to find a job after graduation, so I think maybe Yale and Columbia are more suitable for me.

Thank you for your kindness!

Do you plan on working in the US or somewhere else? In the US, JHU is very prestigious and, as you note, is number one in biomedical engineering (according to US News). JHU is also the 3rd-ranked medical school in the US, first in public health, and first in nursing.

Columbia, Boston University, and Northwestern are tied at 12th for BME. Yale is 30th.

According to the Times Hire Education Rankings, Johns Hopkins is ranked 13th in the world overall, and 21st in world reputation. 27 Nobel laureates too. I don’t see how you could go wrong at JHU, including employment, but you have some other great choices.
