Graduate School GPA Averages

I'm trying to find data on average GPA for accepted students to Top Graduate Schools in Science. I bought the US News 2009 Grad School Rankings, but they don't seem to have GPA Averages for science programs. Anyone have a link to these?

I don’t think most schools provide that information, and it also varies a lot depending on the school and what kind of science. However, MIT has the average GPA of their accepted Biology students, and it was 3.62 (<a href=“MIT Department of Biology: FAQ)%5B/url%5D”>MIT Department of Biology: FAQ). I’ve not seen any other schools provide that, though (for Biology, anyway).

agreed (on most schools not calculating it).

but i could probably give you the one for columbia pharmacology, because our first year class is all of three people.

Even if it is posted, it is going to be a school by school, year by year basis. It all depends on the stats of applicants and everything else which varies considerably. As an example I know Duke will list their acceptance stats by each program year to year and it will vary. In Biology for 2006-2007 the average UGPA was 3.8, in 07-08 it was 3.6.
[Biology Admissions Stats](http://www.gradschool.duke.edu/about_us/statistics/admitbio.htm)

You can browse the other programs stats here: [List of Programs](http://www.gradschool.duke.edu/departments_and_programs/index.html)

UWash also publishes their graduate acceptance stats in pretty good detail per program. You can find it somewhere on their website or on google.
