Graduate Student Joining Fraternity

Hey CC's,

Thank you all for your continuous help!

I am joining Dartmouth College this coming Fall as a graduate student and wanted to get involved in greek life, or the like.

Has anyone ever heard of someone joining a greek fraternity as a graduate student?

I have e-mailed GLOS (Greek Letter Organizations and Societies) department to determine if graduate students can join, and they have replied that graduate students cannot. Despite this information, I have heard in some colleges that fraternities may get around this and still accept graduate students.

I have never heard of graduate students being part of the greek system. Honestly, I think if you asked them, they would find it creepy. There is minimal social interaction of that type between undergrads and the graduate schools.

ah, I see. Thank you for your reply. I understand the partial “creepiness” you speak of. At my undergrad, I never got into greek life and wanted to try it out.

Some of the co-ed fraternities allow graduate students to join as “honorary” members. PM me if you want additional details.
