Hi i am wondering if it's possible to graduate with a degree in Business administration but instead pursue a career in PT? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm not sure if it's possible to do. I don't mean I won't be able to do it, but i'm not sure if PT programs would consider a guy with a degree in business even though i may have a B+ average is the science core classes that you need to complete in order to apply to a PT program.

Also the reason why I don't want to major in science is because I want to one day run my own PT clinic and would rather learn how to run one before I apply for a PT program.

I don’t believe PT programs require any particular major, as long as you complete the prerequisites. I doubt they’d look negatively on a degree in business as long as you do well in the prerequisite courses and show an interest in the field.

I’m actually in the same boat here. Business grad, but with strong interests in pt/ot. I had a similar idea with yours - about using my business degree and run my clinic. I’m actually enrolled in college again to pursue this interest and I have an appointment next week to speak with an advisor and lay out a career path.

Aside from the obvious reasons of acquiring capital to start any business, what concerns me is experience. As in, what do I need to know or do I need to take pt/ot courses or have certification in the field to be qualified to manage a clinic? Or, would my duties specifically center around the business aspect of it - which is my assumption that it would.

I’m also thinking to study nutrition and seek a career in that field, since I have been reading it is a field in demand and will be in the next few years.

Would it be alright to ask you what your course of action is?
