Graduating Early

Can I manage to a graduate a term/a year early, but still manage to double major?

*I will come only with IB credits, I am international student and my school does not offer AP.

Double major and graduate early? I’d say don’t plan on it, but I suppose it’s possible. Here are the policies for Trinity:
<a href=“Graduation: Graduating Early | Trinity College of Arts & Sciences”>http://trinity.duke.edu/undergraduate/academic-policies/graduate-early

The standard “2 AP credit cap” is expanded to 4 if you graduate after 7 semesters, 8 for 6 semesters. I knew very few people who graduated early (and very few who graduated late!).

The only reason I am planning it is because of financial reasons :(

What double major are you looking at? It’s possible depending on your IB credit and how much the majors overlap/how easy one may be

I was looking at BME/ECE double major option and maybe even a minor in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics or Econ. I will most probably have a 7 for both Chem and Econ HL for my IB finals.

Oh, Pratt? That changes things completely. Pratt has no limit on college credits BUT has many more curriculum/major requirements. It is not uncommon for people to come in with 6+ AP/IB credits. BME/ECE is very doable and actually doesn’t really require any more courses than BME alone (just different courses, fewer upper level requirements within each department). Now, having said that, I think I knew of approximately zero people that graduated early in Pratt even with all those credits. Although I knew of a couple people who did crazy hard triple majors and the like (not for the faint of heart). So, I’ll stick with the above and say don’t count on it unless you overload every semester which I would highly recommend you NOT do. Will leave you little to no time for extracurricular activities/life outside courses and also is very difficult. Duke’s financial aid will adjust each year, so they should make it affordable for you and your family if you get to that point.

Consider taking summer classes after your freshman year, but it will be hard to graduate early as an engineer. Duke has one of the best BME departments, so it is worth it, and perhaps you can graduate a semester early.
