With the path that I’m on, I could graduate from college a semester early. I’m currently a sophomore and I’ll be taking 4 classes next semester, then 5, then 5, then 3. Or I could do 4, 5, 4, 4, ending a semester early.
Is that the best way to go about this though? I’m just thinking because technically I could do 4, 3, 3, 3, 3 and NOT graduate a semester early, be a part time student and work during college.
I’m just unsure of myself because I don’t actually know how this ‘graduating early’ process works with housing and the works. Also, I could have time to take little classes that interest me or that would boost my GPA and could do 4 classes each semester for the rest of my college career, and that would mean I take an extra 4 classes total to help boost my GPA.
Just looking for some advice, please. Thank you.
Just FYI, I’m a political science major and criminal justice minor. I want to go into law enforcement when I graduate. My GPA is really low right now as I haven’t been doing well (I switched my major that I’m no longer interested in where I was taking hard classes) and that’s why I was thinking of doing GPA boosting courses.
Check to be sure your school allows early graduation. D’s school, a private university, sent letters during junior year reminding all that in order to receive a diploma from said institution, students had to take courses for 8 semesters.
One of the selling points for AP courses is the saving of $ by graduating from college in less than 4 years, but that’s not possible at every school.
Also, your financial aid can change if you aren’t a full time student which is not usually measured in number of courses but in number of credits. Three classes can be 9 (3 each) credits or 15 (5 each).
Is there a possibility of getting a master’s degree if you go full time, 15 credits/5 courses per semester?
You have to check with the school. My son graduated early (7 semesters). His university (Case Western) was helpful. His last semester he only took 6 credits and they prorated his scholarship from full time to part time. You have to check.
My son had a job lined up so he was able to start working right away.
What are your plans after college?
