You want to be in the school’s Marching Band?

Well, that pretty much means a sports school, and that pretty much means there will be a party element. Don’t worry about that. Even at party schools, many kids are very serious students…especially in the more challenging majors…

What is your budget? How much will your family pay? Do you need financial aid? If so, will you qualify for the aid that you need?

**The amount that your family will pay will influence where you should apply. **

I don’t think Villanova meets need.

Others can comment on this, but I’ve heard that getting into Shreyers these days is like applying to an ivy. Very hard to get in. You might want to retest.

Are you going to apply to UPitt?

I hesitate to recommend other state schools with marching bands because not many give aid or merit…some do, but many don’t give much.

Your 200 mile limit may be restricting if you want a marching band. How far is Ohio State (don’t know if you’d get merit money from OSU).

Thanks for responding.

I’d like the college to have a marching band but it doesn’t have to be one of the world’s greatest. I think even Oberlin has a marching band (although I’d never apply to Oberlin). I’d be happy with any marching band, I just enjoy the experience.

I was thinking of adding UPitt to my list, yes.

My parents will have 2 in college so I should get some financial aid, but their income is relatively high so I’d like to be able to get at least some merit aid if possible.

I guess I need to look at more colleges that meet full demonstrated need.

OSU would be 400 miles but it’s huge and and I don’t think I want to go there enough to pay out-of-state tuition.

If you think of any other colleges that might fit, feel free to re-post.
