I heard that graduating in 9 semesters is looked negatively upon. However, im planning to graduate in 9 semesters because i decided i want to declare a minor in Korean along the way. Isnt it at least better than graduating in 9 semesters with only a major?

How would law schools look at the fact that im graduating in 9 semesters because of declaring a minor AND the fact that a 1.5 generation korean is declaring a minor in korean.

Generally, it does not matter and having the extra semester has no negative effect. It can matter if they believe, based on what they see, that you extended your college time just to take easy courses to try to raise your GPA for law school admission purposes, and a Korean native taking Korean in senior year and the semester after and getting all A’s might possibly be construed that way.

I think they might appreciate the fact that there is much to be learned from Korean classes even for a native Korean. After all, they wouldn’t think it’s useless for an American to study US History, English, or American literature. I know that’s not entirely the same situation, but broadly there is a comparison. Perhaps there is a space to add an explanation of why you chose that minor…
