Graduation and end of year plans

I am curious how schools are planning for graduation and grade promotion ceremonies this year. If your school has announced their graduation plans, can you share them here?

Westover has a section on their website for this: StackPath

Right now, it looks like they’re doing the same thing they always do, but limiting the guests and having a livestream for friends/family at home!

Cate is having in person graduation, with a limited number of guests. All of the non-seniors have to be gone before the long weekend of festivities start so there’s sufficient social distancing.

Hotchkiss is the same as Cate: in person graduation; they haven’t yet decided if they will limit the number of guests. Parents, though, definitely can attend in person. The lower grades all will have left before graduation.

From PA:

“Andover’s 243rd Commencement Exercises honoring the Class of 2021 will be celebrated on Sunday, June 6. Current plans are for an in-person, on-campus event. Each senior will be allowed to have two guests at the ceremony. The event will also be streamed live, allowing all family and friends to share in this special day.”

SMS is in person, 6 guests allowed. They are having underclassmen move out the day before baccalaureate. They always hold their ceremonies outside anyway, so that will remain the same.

Of note, the 2020 class is having their ceremony the day before.

@buuzn03 that is really lovely to do a ceremony for the 2020 kids!

DS wished they had done it the weekend after, so each class could have their own weekend, but yes - it is nice they did not forget the class of 2020 was somewhat robbed.

Mercersburg is having in person graduation, with each family allowed up to 4 guests. Our tradition is to walk across a century-old outdoor platform, but it is a tight space and one that is not really conducive to social distancing, so we will be curious to see what they end up doing. Non-seniors will finish the year and move out prior to graduation weekend, much to their disappointment.

Lville is having an in person graduation. There is a limit on family members, but I can’t remember what it is. No other Lville student, including sibling of graduates, may attend graduation. They are essentially separating the senior class from the rest of the school for the last few days, so they may have prom and graduation ceremonies in a bubble. Parents may not come in contact with graduates until after graduation (they are not allowed to attend any prior events) and then graduates and parents leave school without having any contact with the lower forms.

How are they dealing with day students?

I’m not sure, and I was actually wondering that as I typed my response above. It would be cool if they had them board for those last few days so they could maintain a bubble and allow the class to have time together in the houses. But I suspect they will do what they’ve done so far and just ask them to be careful.

Alternatively, they still do own HGI—if the number being quarantined isn’t too high at the time, they could probably just stick them all in there. I do know that COVID restrictions are being eased for the seniors during those last few days, hence why the bubble is being created.
