Graduation Trip to Paris.....without adults

I'm so glad she got to go! Like I always say, "I wish I was living the lifestyle of my children!" LOL.

ucsd, It was booked on the internet and we received no notification. I'm glad we didn't find out it was cancelled upon arrival at the airport. (It was the last flight out)

bessie, agree about the lifestyle! I've never been to Paris, nor did I study abroad. In my day it was mostly language majors that studied abroad and never science majors. The kids of today don't realize the many opportunities they have.

Six days down....four to go. And she LOVES Paris. Who wouldn't? I think we can safely say I will be facing at least one semester of Dd2 studying abroad. Perhaps more. Hope she doesn't make it a permanent move.

Glad to hear all is going well. My D and friend are going next weekend.....planning to be part of the crowd for the finish of the Tour de France.

You are so right about the opportunities now. We live in Germany and have had five of D's friends visit this summer, all abroad for study or internships. I feel so old saying "when I was your age," but that would have seemed like an incredible "jet-setter" lifestyle to me back then.

applicantmum, I'll bet you are glad that you said yes, now, but I know that you will feel more comfortable 5 days from now.

Dd is home from Paris. She had an amazing time. Thank you to all who responded to my thread. I don't know if I could have sent her without your encouragment. A big thanks to Soccorboy for your lengthy post and who's tips about scams proved invaluable.

Besides the knowledge gained from such a trip, she has shown me that she is more than capable of succeeding in college, a mere 500 miles away from home. So thanks again for helping me to make the right decision.

Wonderful! Enjoy the next couple of weeks with her!

That's great news!!

Bravo Zulu!!!

I did and she had great time.

But. Get her an American Express card for emergencies (sick, fly home early, etc). Also it can be used to mail to AmEx office in cities. Mine used it for one dinner, the last night in Paris which I oked. But, I felt better knowing she had it.
