as most of u guys know.. xiggi highly recommended grammatix along with like rr, gruber, maximum sat...

im about to order like 2-3 of these.. and grammatix seems to be 50 bucks

i want to hear suggestions from people who have used these books..
is grammatix worth it? or shood i just get RR maximumsat or testmaster???

According to what I've seen on this board and my own opinions:

These are the best, must-have books:
The Official SAT Study Guide: Contains 8 practice tests created by College Board, plus a few more practice questions. The strategies are kind of useless, but the tests are invaluable. This is the book you NEED to get.
Rocket Review: Very thorough writing section, explains 14 grammatical rules used on the SAT; also has a good essay section. Critical reading is another strong point. One of the essentials.
Grubers: The most complete math review anywhere. Good strategies, it's helped me a lot and I suck at math.

Personally, I cannot recommend Testmasters or Maximum SAT because I haven't used either. I don't really see any posts on here about testmasters, but I know a few people found Maximum SAT helpful. The search function is a good resource :)

wowow thanks for the thorough response

I personally did not find any "strategies" that were original or helpful
The grammar & math sections are really disorganized like just listing facts
The CR's strategy was pretty much the same as found in books like barrons 2400 & max sat

the only thing i found helpful was when he states the obvious.. but its what you really needed to hear like that there is 1 right answer and 4 wrong ones

The CR strategies were alright. The essay part was alright too. I didn't find it as great and helpful as people make it sound.

Rocket Review is terrible. You'll regret buying the book.

There are no practices for CR or WR. The book just contains a bunch of junk tips and strategies. Dunno why people like that book.

Grammatix is a strategy guide. It doesn't have practice, but it's somewhat helpful. If you need help on math, don't bother. Gruber's is good enough. It's CR section is definitely really nice, but i don't feel it's worth 50 bucks.
