Grammer mistakes in teacher rec?

To whom this may concern? Teacher wrote my rec with to whom “this” may concern. does this show bad grammer and lower my chance of getting into a school?

No. I will note that you just typed “grammer” instead of grammar twice, though.

Good luck!

I don’t think you should worry about this, so long as the letter itself is a strong one. Most students waive the right to see their LORs, by the way - is that not the case here? Incidentally, you’ve misspelled “grammar” twice yourself in this post. Everyone makes mistakes.

It happens, don’t worry. Some resources include it as an alternate form.

But seriously, if you’re applying to a top tier, there are bigger things to worry about. And you should know one misplaced word in an LoR won’t lower your chances.

The teacher is not applying for admission - you are. The AO is not going to be concerned with the teacher’s spelling and grammar. They will be concerned with your spelling and grammar, so make sure your have your application proofread before submission.

Thank you so much! also in my rec letter my teacher said I have “managed to pass all AP classes and excel in extracurriculars” does this bring a bad impression since pass is not a great describer

This is why teachers are not doing their students any favors by showing them the LoR. But to answer your question, the AO is not going to look for hidden subtexts in each and every sentence;s/he’s not reading Hamlet.S/he will read the entire rec and go from there.

Please stop dissecting your teacher’s letter. Instead, use your time to write him or her a nice thank you note for writing a recommendation.
